19th September Celebration by BSMHFT
A daytime review and evening celebration has been organised to mark the 20th anniversary of our National Deaf Mental Health Service, on September 19, 2013.
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) is home to one of the three Deaf Mental Health services within our country! The service has an inpatient unit; the Jasmine Suite along with a community team made up of specialists such as psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, CPNs, and includes a nurse led therapeutic day programme.
The service was first established in 1993. It was situated on the former Queen Elizabeth Psychiatric Hospital site in Edgbaston, before moving to a purpose-built unit at the Barberry in 2008.

The evening 20th anniversary celebration
The BSMHFT encourage all to attend their evening celebration, which will be held at the Irish Centre in Digbeth, Birmingham. Tickets are priced at £5 which includes the live entertainment and a hot buffet, from 7pm till 11.30pm.
For two groups of people who tend to be invisible and feel the deep claws of stigma, I think it's a great display of support to attend, and hopefully learn something as well as meeting other people, and of course it sounds like a good night! =]
