This is why our Later Life team devote their time to improving the mental health of older people, and why we're happy to be supporting this year's World Mental Health Day, which focuses on mental health and older people.
Their specialist in-house research team have developed ground-breaking projects in this area, for example looking at ways for people in their fifities and sixties to protect their mental health, and helping older people to make the most of self-directed support.

As well as the above services for people in their 50s and 60's the BSMHFT older adult mental health services are predominantly for people aged 65+.

As we get older it is common for our hearing to deteriorate, thus Deaf Mental Health Services will become more important as we age. Eating disorders can be easily missed and dismissed as 'just signs of being old'. There are services that can help and should be considered as options in ones treatment regardless of age. The service promotes recovery and relapse prevention in a number of ways. 24-hour specialist mental health care for those with an acute organic (such as dementia) or functional (such as depression or psychosis) ongoing mental health issue. |
